Hi, my name is Maddie Marquez and I was born and raised in Sacramento, California and I am currently attending the 
University of Nevada Reno, pursuing a marketing degree. I am currently studying marketing because it is a degree that is generalized as commercials and advertising, but in reality marketing focuses on much more than that. It goes into the deeper meaning of marketing, looking at customer decisions, the buyers process, why customers want what they want and buy what they want, and so much more. All of these aspects have interested me, and I intend to have a career relating to these such as in digital marketing, or as a market research analyst. I hope to one day work with a large company and contribute to their marketing department.
Before college I worked as a receptionist for a little bit of time, allowing me to gain some work experience as well as gaining skills in customer service, digital data entry, and organization. Aside from both work and school I played soccer for around 11 years, requiring the majority of my time and being my only hobby. With playing soccer came teamwork skills and leadership skills, since I was team captain two years ago. Soccer also brought me opportunities of volunteer work and coaching, which allowed me to gain and use responsibility and overall strengthen my leadership skills. Once I aged out of soccer I picked up new hobbies, such as hiking, running, and spending time with friends and family. Staying active and cherishing my time with others is very important to me, as well as things such as giving back to my community and personal growth. Giving back to my community is important to me whether it’s volunteer work such as coaching or participating in fundraisers, like Run to Feed The Hungry, which I have both done in the last year. Personal growth is another thing I am passionate about by staying active, bettering my well-being, and staying on top of my education, all to try and become the best version of myself.
I eventually hope to participate in marketing internships for bigger companies while I work towards graduating and earning my bachelors in marketing. With a bachelors in marketing, and marketing experience through internships I hope to work as a digital marketing manager for a retail or cosmetic company, or a marketing data analyst for a popular company.
